Here are two new landscapes - Autumn Glow and Autumn Trees. (You can read about Autumn Trees here).

Pictured below are Sun Swept, Spring Blooms and Golden Blooms. These are acrylics on gallery wrapped canvas. Sun Swept is one of three paintings currently showing at Ciao Gallery in Jackson Hole, WY for their themed juried show - Sunrise, Sunset.
Arches is my most recent street scene. It's an Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, measuring 24" x 30" and painted with a pallet knife. You can read the story behind it here.
My husband and I love, love, love the Oregon coast! We spent a bit of time there recently and this is what I came home with. I don't paint seascapes but the beach still inspires me!
Below: Distant Meadow, Silhouettes and Shadowed Blades

Hmmm... I must be getting spring fever. Below are two recent works: Spring Poppies and Poppies both are acrylics on gallery wrapped canvas.

Alone We Stand is an Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. The glow of the trees is really prominent in this painting. If you click on the title you'll get a larger view and will be able to see how the sun hits them from behind.

'Red Poppies' is an oil on canvas painted with a pallet knife. It has some great texture and a lot of warmth with the lighting behind the flowers.

'Sun-lit' is a 30"x40" oil on gallery wrapped canvas. The red-orange under coat shows throughout the painting giving the impression of additional blooms muted by the sun and haze. Click here for a closer look.

'Reflective Waters' is a 22"x28" acrylic on canvas. This was painted with a brush and the canvas sides are finished making framing optional.
'Shared Umbrella' is my latest street scene piece. I tried something similar to what I've been doing with my last few landscapes, which is letting the undercoat show through in the finished painting. In this case I used blues as a reflection of some of the lighting off of two of the signs. The lighting overall is pretty dramatic in person... This is a 18"x24" oil on canvas, done completely with a pallet knife. The sides are painted so you can frame it or leave it unframed.
Here are the two latest landscapes I've completed. (Finally) summer has arrived in the NW and we're welcoming it with both warm and bold colors. This is a 22x28" Acrylic on canvas, painted with a brush. In both of these new pieces, I've let my initial red/orange under coat show through which has been an interesting test of restraint and discipline. You can click
here for a closer view.
'Standing Alone' (below) is a 24" x 30" oil on canvas, painted using a brush and a pallet knife.
'Red Umbrella' is one of my latest creations. It's 18 x 24 inches and was painted with a pallet knife. The idea for this one has been in my head for quite some time, so it almost flew together. I love when it works that way!

I was inspired to begin this piece based on an art contest I found on line about the color red. We can interpret that so many ways but what I'm trying to do here is to show how a small amount of something can create a large and dramatic impact.
Painting in black and white is a whole new (and exciting) challenge for me. After this piece is complete, I plan to explore it further.

I started this one for my sister, Cheryl. She wanted something with bold colors and a mix of abstract and Asian art styles. It's still a work in progress but I've enjoyed the challenge.
